## What size are Nano Banana images?

It depends on the model and the setting. According to Google's documentation, Nano Banana 2.1, Nano Banana 2 and Nano Banana Pro offer 1K, 2K and 4K tiers, Nano Banana 2 also has a 512 px tier, and Nano Banana 2 Lite only offers 1K.

The original Nano Banana is smaller. We asked it for a 16:9 image and got 1344 x 768 pixels, which is about 1 megapixel. That image is the sample on this page, reduced to 672 x 384 so you can see a clear change.

| Starting size | At 2x | At 4x |
| --- | --- | --- |
| 1024 x 1024 | 2048 x 2048 | 4096 x 4096 |
| 1344 x 768 | 2688 x 1536 | 5376 x 3072 |
| 512 x 512 | 1024 x 1024 | 2048 x 2048 |

## When to upscale a Nano Banana image

**You already have the picture you want.** Generating it again at 4K gives you a new image, which may differ, and it costs a higher-tier request. An upscaler keeps your picture as it is.

**You made it at 1K.** Images from the original model, or from the Gemini app at a low setting, are around 1 megapixel.

**You only have a shared copy.** Pictures saved from chats and social apps are often reduced and compressed. Upscaling can't bring back what's gone, but it removes much of the blockiness.

## Getting the best result

Use the original download where you can. Choose **Photo** for realistic images, and **Art** for cartoons, stickers and flat illustrations. For a very soft image, try 2x first, then send the result through again if your device has room.

## Frequently asked questions

### Does Google have a Nano Banana upscaler?

Google offers larger tiers when you generate a new image. This tool is different: it enlarges an image you already have, and it isn't made by or connected with Google.

### Does this remove the Gemini watermark?

No. A visible mark stays in the picture and gets enlarged with everything else. To remove the sparkle first, use the [Gemini watermark remover](https://getoxtro.com/gemini-watermark-remover). Google also says all generated images carry an invisible SynthID watermark, which stays either way.

### Is Nano Banana the same as Gemini?

Nano Banana is the popular name for Google's Gemini image models, so an image made with Gemini's image tools is usually a Nano Banana image. The upscaler treats any image the same way.
