About Oxtro

Oxtro lets a team share one WhatsApp inbox, run campaigns and send messages and verification codes from code, using WhatsApp numbers the business already owns.

What Oxtro does

Most businesses already talk to customers on WhatsApp, usually from one phone that gets passed around the office. Oxtro links that number to a workspace the whole team can use:

  • a shared inbox where agents answer customers side by side;
  • campaigns that send a template to a list of contacts at a controlled pace;
  • a REST API that sends messages from your own systems, with signed webhooks for replies and delivery updates;
  • an OTP API that sends one-time verification codes on WhatsApp and checks them for you.

A number is linked by scanning a QR code, the same way you link WhatsApp Web. There is no application to fill in and no template review. Read the quickstart to send a first message in a few minutes.

How Oxtro started

Oxtro began as an Android SMS gateway: an app that turned a phone into a way to send text messages from code. It now works with WhatsApp, and the idea is the same: send from a number you already own, from your own systems, without a long setup.

Some articles on our blog come from that time. We have rewritten the ones still worth reading, and they cover verification and messaging in general, not only Oxtro.

How we work

  • We say plainly what Oxtro is. Oxtro is not the official WhatsApp Business Platform and is not affiliated with WhatsApp or Meta. It sends from your own number through a linked-device session, and WhatsApp's terms still apply to that number. Our guide to keeping your number safe explains what that means in practice.
  • We do not invent numbers. You will not find made-up customer logos, testimonials or delivery rates on this site.
  • We document the API we ship. The field tables in the API reference come from the API's own OpenAPI document, and the build fails if the two drift apart.
  • Your data stays yours. We do not sell it and we do not use your messages for marketing or to train AI models. The privacy policy has the details.

Who is behind Oxtro

Oxtro is an independent product, built and run from Algeria. Its servers are hosted in the European Union. Payments can be made in US dollars or, for customers in Algeria, in dinars with an EDAHABIA or CIB card.
