WhatsApp in your n8n workflows

Send messages and login codes from any workflow, and start one when a customer replies or a delivery fails.

The Oxtro community node for n8n is built but not published yet. Until it is listed, the built-in HTTP Request and Webhook nodes do the same job with the Oxtro API.

Send from any workflow

Use the HTTP Request node to call POST /v1/messages with a Bearer credential. Text, a file from a URL, or a saved template with variables filled from earlier nodes.

Start a workflow from WhatsApp

Point an Oxtro webhook endpoint at an n8n Webhook node. A reply, a delivery update or a disconnected number becomes the start of a workflow.

Verify phone numbers

Two requests cover it: POST /v1/otp/send then POST /v1/otp/verify. A wrong code comes back as HTTP 400, so set the node to continue on error and branch on the error code.

What the community node will add

Message and OTP actions with proper fields instead of raw JSON, and a trigger that registers its own webhook and checks the signature of every event for you.

How it works

  1. Create a credential

    In n8n, add a Header Auth credential with the name Authorization and the value Bearer followed by your Oxtro API key.

  2. Add an HTTP Request node

    POST to /v1/messages with a JSON body containing connection_id, to and text.

  3. Add a Webhook node

    Copy its production URL into a webhook endpoint in Oxtro and choose the events to receive.

Works today: the request the HTTP Request node sends

Method POST, authentication with your Header Auth credential, body type JSON.

curl equivalent
curl https://api.getoxtro.com/v1/messages \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $OXTRO_API_KEY" \
  -H "Idempotency-Key: order-4821-confirmation" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{
    "connection_id": "conn_123",
    "to": "+213555123456",
    "text": "Your order ORD-4821 has been confirmed."
  }'

Questions about n8n

Is the Oxtro node available in n8n?

Not yet. The community node is built and waiting to be published. Until then, use the built-in HTTP Request node to send and the Webhook node to receive.

How do I verify Oxtro webhook signatures in n8n?

Turn on the Raw Body option of the Webhook node, then compute an HMAC-SHA256 of the timestamp, a dot and the raw body with your signing secret, and compare it with the v1 value in the X-Webhook-Signature header. The Oxtro trigger node will do this for you once it is published.

Does Oxtro have its own automation builder?

No. Oxtro provides the WhatsApp API and webhooks, and works with automation tools such as n8n instead of replacing them.
